Vol. 551 No. 2

Written Answers. - Community Projects.

Question:

338 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the further steps which can be undertaken to help the Cherry Orchard Equine Centre secure the shortfall of funding; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9607/02]

A once-off grant of €380,921 towards the fitting out costs of this project was made available under the drugs initiative, which is administered by my colleague the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation, on the basis that the centre's programme of activities would incorporate a component to assist recovering drug users.

Dublin City Council has agreed to act as the channel for drugs initiative funding in respect of the fitting out costs of the project. A total of €47,701.12 has been paid by my Department to date and further moneys will be available on receipt of valid applications for funding from the council.
