Vol. 551 No. 2

Written Answers. - Social Welfare Benefits.

Michael Ring

Question:

376 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Social, Community and Family Affairs the insurance contribution record on file for a person (details supplied) in County Mayo; and if this will entitle this person to a contributory pension. [9860/02]

The person concerned reached pensionable age 66 on 17 December 1993. One of the qualifying conditions for old age contributory pension is that a person must have at least 156 reckonable social insurance contributions paid. According to my Department's records the person concerned has a total of 25 paid contributions. Accordingly, he would not qualify for old age contributory pension.

The person concerned has not made an application for old age contributory pension. He is currently in receipt of an old age non-contributory pension at the maximum weekly personal rate of €134.00. He is also getting a living alone allowance, €7.70 per week, and a weekly fuel allowance of €9.
