Vol. 551 No. 2

Written Answers. - Inland Waterways.

Gerry Reynolds

Question:

391 Mr. G. Reynolds asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands the proposals Waterway Ireland have for the waterway system between Lough Forbes, County Longford to Lough Wrynn in Mohill, County Leitrim to be navigable. [9925/02]

The issue raised by the Deputy, in relation to the waterway system between Lough Forbes and Lough Wrynn, is the day to day responsibility of Waterways Ireland, a North-South implementation body for inland waterways, set up under the British-Irish Agree ment signed in March 1999. Waterways Ireland have informed me that it has no proposals to extend navigation from Lough Forbes to Lough Wrynn.
