Written Answers. - Naturalisation Certificates.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

413 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform when birth certificates and original personal documentation received by his Department from persons (details supplied) in County Kildare will be returned to them on foot of their application for naturalisation; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9808/02]

Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform (Mr. O'Donoghue): I have recently approved applications for certificates of naturalisation in respect of the persons referred to in the Deputy's question. The original birth certificates for both persons and an original marriage certificate will be returned with the approval letters which will issue shortly from the citizenship section of my Department. Certificates of naturalisation will issue as soon as certain statutory and other requirements, including the making of a declaration of loyalty to the State and fidelity to the nation, have been complied with.
