Vol. 551 No. 2

Written Answers. - School Staffing.

Brian O'Shea

Question:

506 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Education and Science if his Department will allocate an additional teaching post to Ballyduff national school, Kilmeaden County Waterford (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9859/02]

From the 2002-03 school year onwards, principal teachers in mainstream primary schools with a principal plus nine or more teachers including ex quota posts may be appointed as administrative principals. In such instances, a permanent mainstream class teacher may be appointed to replace the principal teacher. Unfortunately, the school referred to by the Deputy does not satisfy the criteria for the appointment of an administrative principal in the 2002-03 school year.
