Vol. 551 No. 2

Written Answers. - Port Development.

Jack Wall

Question:

63 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources when consultants will be appointed to undertake the high level review of the adequacy and appropriateness of the current model for the governance of the ports sector; when he expects the review to be completed; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9912/02]

My Department invited appropriately qualified consultants to tender for the conduct of a high level review of the State commercial ports operating under the Harbours Acts, 1996-2000, late last year.

I am advised that evaluation, selection and appointment of consultants will be completed by the end of April. The study review will be fully inclusive and will involve a full consultation process with all relevant stakeholders and interested parties. I expect to have a final report by end July 2002.

Question No. 64 answered orally with Question No. 33.
