Question:

135 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the details of the farm retirement plan; the age a lessee has to be in order to lease land from a land owner under the scheme; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10483/02]

For applications received in 2002 a farming transferee must, on the date a completed application is received in the Department be between his or her 18th and 44th birthdays. From 2003, the upper age limit will come down by one year at a time until it reaches 40 in 2006.
