Liam Aylward

Question:

213 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the progress to date on a section 49 application by a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny. [10412/02]

I am informed by the Registrar of Titles that this is an application under section 49, that is the acquisition of title by virtue of long possession, of the Registration of Title Act, 1964.

I am also informed that notices of the application were served on the registered owners of the property. On 8 February the registered owners confirmed in writing to the Land Registry that they had instructed their solicitors to lodge an affidavit of objection to the registration of the applicants. Such objection when lodged will be considered on its merits.

I can assure the Deputy that the application is receiving attention.
