227 Mr. Higgins (Dublin West) asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will institute an inquiry into the widespread use of black economy practices in a major construction contract at Dublin City University. [10368/02]
All third level institutions in receipt of state funding for capital purposes must comply with Government and European Union procurement procedures, as appropriate. The Higher Education Authority has advised me that Dublin City University has followed these procedures. I have been informed that building contractors were appointed by the University in accordance with EU and Government procurement procedures.
