Vol. 551 No. 3

Written Answers. - Defence Forces Property.

Alan M. Dukes

Question:

125 Mr. Dukes asked the Minister for Defence if he will sanction the employment of further staff for the swimming pool in the Curragh in order that children from local schools can use the pool, and in view of the fact that one particular school (details supplied) in County Kildare has already offered to hire its own swimming instructor; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10470/02]

The question of appropriate staffing for the Curragh swimming pool is under review as part of a wider study of staff allocation in all areas of the Defence Forces Training Centre. At present, one post-primary and two national schools within the immediate area of the Curragh Camp avail of the swimming pool facilities during normal working hours. It will not be possible to provide access for further schools until the staffing review has been concluded.
