Vol. 551 No. 3

Written Answers. - Departmental Vacancies.

Michael Ring

Question:

127 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if there are vacancies for staff in the FDS office in Castlebar, County Mayo; if so, the reason the vacancies are not being filled when it is causing undue hardship to farmers waiting on REP scheme payments; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10402/02]

There is at present a vacancy at technical agricultural officer level and a half vacancy at clerical officer level in the FDS office in Castlebar, County Mayo. My Department is making arrangements at present for the filling of the half vacancy at clerical officer level and will endeavour to assign an officer to that vacancy at an early date.

The vacancy at technical agricultural officer level is not having an impact on the processing of REP scheme payments as the grade of technical agricultural officer is not involved in the processing of such payments.
