Vol. 551 No. 3

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Ivan Yates

Question:

131 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the reason suckler cow payments have been refused to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford; and if this case can be reconsidered with a view to issuing payment. [10407/02]

The person named applied for premium on 35 animals under the 2001 suckler cow premium scheme. Following a herd inspection on 16 November 2001 it was found that the applicant was not compliant with the identification and registration of bovine animals requirements as 14 animals were not registered with SWS Bandon. Non-compliance in this matter was also found at an inspection on 3 October 2000 under the 2000 suckler cow scheme. A formal notification issued to the person named on the 7 January 2002 informing him that as the level of non-compliance with identification and registration requirements was found to be greater than 20%, no payment could be made under the 2001 suckler cow scheme. The applicant was also informed that he could appeal this decision by writing within 21 days to my Department with any new facts or fresh evidence in support of his appeal. No further correspondence has been received from the herdowner to date.
