Vol. 551 No. 4

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Jimmy Deenihan

Question:

109 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the reason a person (details supplied) in County Kerry received a reduced suckler cow grant; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10779/02]

The person named applied for premium for five cows and one heifer under the 2001 suckler cow premium scheme for small scale milk suppliers. Applicants under the scheme must have suckler cows surplus to the cows needed to produce the milk quota. The milk quota held by the person named at 31 March 2001 is 30,216 gallons so, when divided by the average yield of 876 gallons, 34.49 is the number of cows required to produce this quota. The applicant declared on his suckler cow application that the total number of cows both dairy and suckler owned, possessed, held and maintained on his holding on the date of application was 35. Suckler cow premium is therefore payable on .51 of a cow and .12 of the heifer being 25% of the cows payable. The person named has been paid his full entitlement on .63 of an animal under this scheme.

Michael Ring

Question:

110 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will receive an area based payment for 2001. [10780/02]

The 2001 area aid application of the person named has been fully processed with an area determined for payment purposes of 43.76 hectares. Payments due under the area based compensatory allowance scheme will issue shortly. The person named applied for premium on eight animals under the 2001 suckler cow premium scheme. The application has been fully processed and payment will issue shortly.
