Vol. 551 No. 4

Written Answers. - Disabled Drivers.

Michael Noonan

Question:

119 Mr. Noonan asked the Minister for Finance his plans to expand the disabled drivers and disabled passengers tax relief scheme to include persons without one hand or one arm; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10724/02]

The disabled drivers' and disabled passengers' schemes are currently under review by an interdepartmental group chaired by an official from the Department of Justice, Equality and Law Reform. The group is examining all aspects of the scheme, including the qualifying medical criteria. Any proposals, whether to widen the scope of the scheme or otherwise, which may emanate from the review group will receive full consideration.
