165 Dr. O'Hanlon asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if funding can be made available under the essential repairs grant scheme for rewiring of housing where the applicant satisfies the other requirements; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10886/02]
In accordance with statutory regulations and within broad overall guidelines set by my Department, it is a matter for each local authority, inter alia, to decide the level of funding to be provided for the essential repairs grant scheme in its area, what works are necessary to prolong the useful life of the house for the occupants and the circumstances in which a grant may be paid.
