Vol. 551 No. 4

Written Answers. - Fire Stations.

Michael Ring

Question:

166 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if money has been sanctioned for the Westport fire station, Westport, County Mayo; if so, the amount of money which has been sanctioned; when he expects this to go out to tender; if this has been approved in the 2002 budget; and if not, when he will have it approved. [10887/02]

I refer to the reply to Question No. 273 of 5 February 2002.

I recently announced record capital funding of €19.568 million for the fire services programme for 2002. As part of the programme, I indicated my intention to give approval in principle to Mayo County Council's proposal for a new fire station at Westport. The question of costs or likely tender dates cannot appropriately be determined at this early stage in the planning process.
