Vol. 551 No. 4

Written Answers. - Registration of Title.

Noel Ahern

Question:

202 Mr. N. Ahern asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if fees charged by the Land Registry Office for changes of ownership, registrations and other items have increased in the past few years; if so, the date of such changes; if he will provide a summary of the increases; and his views on whether it is reasonable for the Land Registry office through a solicitor, to seek extra fees for a transaction completed in 2000. [10954/02]

The last change in fees for the Land Registry was the Land Registration (Fees) Order, 1999 which came into effect on 1 May 2000. This replaced the previous fees order made in 1991. As regards the specific case referenced by the Deputy, the dealing in question was lodged on 19 November 2001. It thus attracted the new fee as set out in the 1999 Order. No previous fee had been paid on the dealing. I will arrange to have a summary of the 1999 increases forwarded to the Deputy under separate cover.
