Vol. 551 No. 4

Written Answers. - School Staffing.

John McGuinness

Question:

205 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Education and Science when he will make a decision regarding the future management of St. Brigid's school, Goresbridge, County Kilkenny; the reason for the delay in the process; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10671/02]

I am currently examining all the issues relating to the future of St. Brigid's secondary school, Goresbridge. Among the factors to be considered are the current and projected student numbers there, the capital investment that would be required and the location and proximity of alternative post-primary school provision in the general area. I am giving careful consideration to all aspects of the matter and the school authorities will be advised of the position as soon as I have taken a decision on the matter.
