Vol. 551 No. 4

Written Answers. - State Examinations.

Paul Bradford

Question:

226 Mr. Bradford asked the Minister for Education and Science if his Department will give consideration to a request from a person (details supplied) in County Cork. [10741/02]

The position is that the closing date for entry to the 2002 leaving certificate examination for a person who is not a recognised pupil of a post-primary school was 30 November 2001. Applications received in the period 1 December 2001 to 1 February 2002 were accepted on receipt of a completed application form and payment of the appropriate late fee in addition to the normal fee. Applications received after that date are only accepted in very exceptional circumstances and on payment of a late fee of €33 per subject in addition to the normal fee.

In this case my Department has recently received a request from the person concerned for an application form for entry to this year's leaving certificate examination as an external candidate. An application form and memorandum of instructions have been forwarded to the applicant.
