Vol. 551 No. 4

Written Answers. - Rail Safety.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

27 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Public Enterprise if she is satisfied that adequate safety standards apply in respect of commuter and provincial rail services; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [10632/02]

The safety of rail services on the Iarnród Éireann network is an operational matter for that company and I have no statutory function in the matter.

I am advised by Iarnród Éireann that all rail services operate within strict safety criteria at all times.
