Vol. 552 No. 1

Written Answers. - Medical Cards.

David Stanton

Question:

336 Mr. Stanton asked the Minister for Health and Children if medical card holders who are obliged by reasons of age to be medically examined when renewing car insurance are entitled to have this examination carried out free of charge under the medical card scheme; if not, his plans to introduce such a concession; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [11423/02]

The only medical certificates covered by the medical card scheme are the first and final certificates issued by a general practitioner in respect of absence from employment. I do not have any plans to broaden the range of services available to medical cardholders at this time.
