Question:

400 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Health and Children the details of the proposed community hospital for Kilkenny which is to form part of the long-term Kilkenny hospital plan as recently announced during his visit to the city. [11939/02]

The South-Eastern Health Board has advised that the drafting of the planning brief document for the first phase of the community hospital at St. Luke's Hospital, Kilkenny, is being finalised. It is understood from the board that it intends, in the first phase, to include a day hospital for the elderly, a 29 bed rehabilitation – young disabled adult ward – a ten bed elderly assessment unit and a rehabilitation therapy unit.
