Question:

797 Mr. Noonan asked the Minister for Education and Science the position regarding a case (details supplied) in County Tipperary of a special needs assistant in a school in County Limerick who has 12 years experience in other teaching for which they did not receive any credit when starting on the salary scale at their employment in 2001; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [11855/02]

Incremental credit for certain previous service is allowed, on appointment, to special needs assistants in second level schools in accordance with the approved conditions of employment for these posts. My Department is reviewing the case in question and will advise the Deputy of the outcome.
