Vol. 552 No. 2

Written Answers. - Garda Recruitment.

Pat Carey

Question:

120 Mr. P. Carey asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if it is possible for an Irish person serving with the London Metropolitan Police to transfer to the Garda Síochána; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12129/02]

Recruitment to the Garda Síochána is governed by the provisions of the Garda Síochána (Admissions and Appointments) Regulations. There are currently no provisions in the regulations for members of other police services to transfer to the Garda Síochána, although such individuals are free to apply through the normal recruitment competition for the Garda Síochána.
