Question:126 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the number of prosecutions in each of the past three years for driving a stolen vehicle; and the numbers of these which involve minors. [12242/02]

I am informed by the Garda authorities that statistics are not compiled in such a way as to provide information on the number of prosecutions for driving a stolen vehicle and the number of those which involved minors. The following table indicates the number of unauthorised takings from 1998 to 2000:
