Vol. 552 No. 2

Written Answers. - Pension Provisions.

Pat Rabbitte

Question:

32 Mr. Rabbitte asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the reason for the delay in concluding the pension scheme for staff of the Health and Safety Authority; when the scheme is likely to be in place; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [12154/02]

The pension scheme for the staff of the Health and Safety Authority was approved and signed by the Minister for Finance and me on 26 June 1998. Discussions are being held between the HSA and the relevant unions in relation to the spouses' and children's pension scheme. On completion of these discussions, the HSA will submit the scheme to my Department for consideration and approval, in consultation with the Department of Finance. I expect to be in a position to approve the scheme within a few weeks.
