Vol. 552 No. 2

Written Answers. - Services for People with Disabilities.

John McGuinness

Question:

87 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Health and Children the reasons for the delay in providing a special wheelchair for a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny; if the application and the occupational therapist's report will be expedited; and if a trial period for the person whose family is anxious to finalise the issue can be arranged. [12184/02]

The provision of technical aids and appliances, including specialised wheelchairs, to people with physical and sensory disabilities is a matter for the Eastern Regional Health Authority and the health boards in the first instance. Accordingly, the Deputy's question has been referred to the chief executive officer of the South Eastern Health Board with a request that he examine the matter and reply directly to the Deputy as a matter of urgency.
