Vol. 552 No. 3

Written Answers. - Ansbacher Accounts.

Austin Deasy

Question:

58 Mr. Deasy asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment if she has received the list of Ansbacher account holders; the reason for the delay in publishing this list; and when she expects to be in a position to do so. [12464/02]

I am not in a position to say when the report of the High Court inspectors appointed to Ansbacher (Cayman) Limited, will be completed or published. I understand that the inspectors have completed most of their work and are currently going through the required process of providing an opportunity for persons about whom conclusions have been drawn to comment on these conclusions before the report is submitted to the High Court. The Deputy will also be aware from recent media reports that two unnamed individuals have applied to the High Court seeking to prevent their names from being published in the inspectors' report. The question of whether and to what extent, the report is published is solely a matter for the High Court.

Following the enactment of the Company Law Enforcement Act, 2001, which amended section 11 of the Companies Act, 1990, this report will now be provided to the Director of Corporate Enforcement rather than to me, as Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment.
