Vol. 552 No. 3

Written Answers. - Missing Persons.

Paul Bradford

Question:

64 Mr. Bradford asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if further assistance can be given to a person (details supplied) in County Cork, whose son has been missing since March 1998, when he was taken to Jordan by his father; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12301/02]

I am aware of the circumstances of the person referred to by the Deputy. My Department is always sympathetic to the situations of Irish citizens in such distressing cases and to the obvious sensitivities that are involved. I have asked our ambassador in Egypt, who is also accredited to Jordan, to look into this matter further and I will communicate with the Deputy when I receive his report.
