Vol. 552 No. 4

Written Answers. - Registration of Title.

Willie Penrose

Question:

131 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if his Department will expedite an application by a person (details supplied) in County Westmeath for registration under section 49 of the Registration of Title (Amendment) Act, 1997; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12659/02]

I am informed by the Registrar of Titles that this dealing refers to an application under section 49 – i.e., acquisition of title by virtue of long possession – of the Registration of Title Act, 1964, which was lodged on 3 April 2002. Dealing No. D2002XS003269T refers. I understand that due to their complicated nature applications under section 49, which require detailed examination of claims for registration as owners, can take some time to process. Accordingly, it is not possible to estimate a completion date at this stage. However, I assure the Deputy that the application is receiving attention in the Land Registry.
