Vol. 552 No. 4

Written Answers. - Notre Dame School.

Olivia Mitchell

Question:

145 Ms O. Mitchell asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will enter into negotiations for the purchase of the Notre Dame school and lands in Churchtown to ensure that this facility is retained for educational use in this expanding area. [12646/02]

I met with a representative group of parents, teachers, trustees and public representatives yesterday, Tuesday, 23 April 2002, about the proposed closure of the Notre Dame des Missions school in Churchtown, Dublin.

At my proposal, it was agreed to establish a working party, comprising parents, teachers, trustees and officials of my Department, to urgently examine all options by which this school, which serves a rapidly developing area, can be kept open.
