Vol. 552 No. 4

Written Answers. - School Staffing.

Róisín Shortall

Question:

175 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Education and Science if, further to Parliamentary Question No. 250 of 28 March 2002, he will provide an amended reply in respect of the school. [12737/02]

The staffing of a national school for a particular school year is determined by the enrolment in the school on 30 September of the previous year. This is in accordance with an agreement on staffing entered into between the Government and the education partners.

The enrolment of this school on 30 September 2001 was 207 pupils which warrants a staffing of a principal and seven mainstream class teachers for the 2002-03 school year. The school also has the services of a shared learning support teacher based at the school. I have requested officials of my Department to examine the staffing position in the school.
