Question:29 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for Health and Children the steps being taken to deal with the serious problem of assaults on psychiatric nurses; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12546/02]
Written Answers. - Workplace Assaults.
I can inform the Deputy that I have decided to establish an appropriate task force to investigate the incidence and the reasons for assaults on psychiatric nurses with a view to designing programmes aimed at prevention. The task force will be representative of all appropriate stakeholders, including the nursing organisations.
My officials will make arrangements for the establishment of this task force at the earliest possible date. Every effort will be made to ensure that the task force completes its work by 1 December 2002.
