74 Mr. Stanton asked the Minister for Defence the status of the proposed commissioning from the ranks (late) course for the Naval Service; when it is proposed to commence this course; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12777/02]
Draft conditions governing the appointment of enlisted personnel of the Permanent Defence Force to be officers of the Naval Service are under discussion with the representative associations. It is proposed to hold this course as soon as it is feasible allowing for the normal consultation and discussions with the representative associations.
It is expected that as a result of this course up to ten officers will be commissioned from the ranks to fill appointments in administrative or logistic positions in the Naval Service.
