Vol. 553 No. 3

Written Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

Michael Ring

Question:

127 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the position regarding the Westport to Shrah water scheme in County Mayo; if funding has been put in place for it; when is it expected that the scheme will start; when it will go to tender; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [13996/02]

The Lough Mask regional water supply scheme extension from Shrah to Westport has been included in my Department's water services investment programme 2002-04 as a scheme to commence construction in 2004, at an estimated cost of €11.4 million. My Department approved a revised brief for the appointment of consultants to prepare a design report and contract documents for the scheme in November 2000. The submission of the report and documents to my Department by Mayo County Council for approval is awaited.
