56 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will ensure that the EU allows SMP intervention to continue beyond 109,000 tonnes in view of the fact that it is the principal outlet for protein product. [13995/02]
Last week the EU dairy management committee agreed to continue to accept skim milk powder into intervention after the threshold of 109,000 tonnes is reached. The mechanism to be used by the Commission for the continued operation of intervention will be based on a tender system.
