Question:

23 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the areas of responsibilities or functions which have been transferred out of his Department or will be transferred out of his Department as a result of the new structures announced by the Taoiseach in Dáil Éireann on 6 June 2002; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14040/02]

The areas of responsibility and functions that have been transferred to the Department of Community, Rural Development and Gaeltacht Affairs are: Leader II Programme; Leader + Programme; National Rural Development Programme; Peace II; Interreg III A; IFI – International Fund for Ireland; Steering Committee on Cross Border Rural Development; Clár Programme; White Paper on Rural Development (implementation).

The administration and business relating to horse and greyhound racing has been transferred to the Department of Arts, Sport and Tourism encompassing responsibilities under the following Acts: The Greyhound Industry Act, 1958 (No. 12 of 1958); The Greyhound Industry (Amendment) Act, 1993 (No. 37 of 1993); The Irish Horseracing Industry Act, 1994 (No. 18 of 1994); The Horse and Greyhound Racing (Betting Charges and Levies) Act, 1999 (No. 24 of 1999); The Horse and Greyhound Racing Act, 2001 (No. 20 of 2001); The Horseracing Ireland (Membership) Act, 2001 (No. 46 of 2001)
