Vol. 553 No. 4

Written Answers. - Crop Losses.

Trevor Sargent

Question:

37 Mr. Sargent asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will visit growers in north County Dublin to witness the devastation caused to field vegetables due to unseasonably heavy rain; and if he will assist growers in their time of need as otherwise many will be unable to remain in business. [13958/02]

I am aware of the difficulties for vegetable growers caused by the recent spell of wet weather. However, the bad weather has also caused difficulties in varying degrees for farmers in other production sectors throughout the country.

I shall keep the situation under review in the light of developments over the coming period.
