Vol. 553 No. 4

Written Answers. - Work Permits.

Ruairí Quinn

Question:

56 Mr. Quinn asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment if she will issue the necessary permission to work to a spouse of a person (details supplied); and if she will make a statement on the matter. [14177/02]

In order for such a person to be eligible to work, a separate application for a work permit or authorisation is required in each case and any application from an eligible employer will be considered on its merits. A change of immigration status could also be necessary.

I am informed by the work permits section of my Department that there is no record of an application for a work permit in respect of the spouse referred to in this question.
