Question:

107 Mr. B. Smith asked the Minister for Finance if, in view of the importance of decentralisation to the promotion of regional development for the Border region, he will give consideration to County Cavan as a centre for decentralisation; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15183/02]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 103, 106 and 107 together.

As undertaken in An Agreed Programme for Government, we are committed to moving forward the progressive decentralisation of Government offices and agencies, taking account of the national spatial strategy. Given the range of important issues which need to be taken into account in taking decisions in relation to a new programme of decentralisation, I am not in a position to say when I expect the Government to be in a position to take such decisions. Deputies can be assured that all submissions and represen tations made will be taken into account as part of the Government's deliberations.
