Vol. 553 No. 7

Written Answers. - Departmental Expenditure.

Richard Bruton

Question:

117 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs the way in which spending in the first six months of 2002 compares to the budgeted profile for spending for each major programme of his Department's spending; and his forecast for year-end overruns. [15108/02]

Expenditure figures to the end of June are not yet available. Most of the expenditure under my Department's Vote 38 relates to administrative costs and there are no major programmes involved. Spending in the first five months of the year amounted to an estimated €57.5 million, compared to the original profile figure of €59.8 million. No overrun is anticipated on this Vote. Total expenditure to 31 May on the Government's development aid programme under Vote 39 amounted to €143 million compared to the original profile figure of €180 million. Emerging expenditure trends are being monitored closely and my Department remains on target for a full spend of the Vote 39 allocation.
