Vol. 553 No. 7

Written Answers. - Inland Fisheries.

Liz McManus

Question:

177 Ms McManus asked the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources if he has received a submission from the Eastern Regional Fisheries Board or the Dargle Anglers Association regarding the proposed development of the Dargle River in Bray, County Wicklow; his views on this matter in view of its great potential for angling; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14535/02]

I have not received a submission for the development of the Dargle River, Bray, County Wicklow.

I understand that an application for funding was made by the Eastern Regional Fisheries Board under the Tourism Angling Measure of the Operational Programme for Tourism 1994-1999 but was not successful. I am advised that the Eastern Regional Fisheries Board has redefined its proposal with a view to seeking funding under the tourism and recreational angling measure of the southern and eastern regional operational programme of the NDP.
