Vol. 553 No. 7

Written Answers. - Departmental Expenditure.

John Bruton

Question:

191 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources the 2002 estimates of public capital spending by his Department; if the net expenditure under headings is likely to be exceeded on present trends; and, if so, the amount by which in each case. [15264/02]

The following table shows the 2002 estimates of public capital spending by my Department. Net expenditure, with the exception of inland fisheries, is likely on present trends not to be exceeded in 2002.

An additional €1 million has been allocated to the catchment management programme under subhead J1 – payments to the Central Fisheries Board, the regional fisheries boards and miscellaneous payments in relation to inland fisheries, in respect of the "This is Our River Initiative". However, this will be offset by savings under other programme areas and, therefore, an overrun on the overall 2002 Estimate provision is not forecast.
