Written Answers. - Strategy Statements.

John Bruton

Question:

197 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism if he has reviewed the strategy statement for his Department for 2001-04 prepared for the previous Government; and if he proposes to make alterations to it in view of his own personal priorities or the contents of the new programme for Government. [15271/02]

As Minister of the new Department of Arts, Sport and Tourism, I have asked my officials to initiate work immediately on the preparation of a statement of strategy in line with the requirement under the Public Service Management Act, 1997 to produce such a document within six months of the appointment of a new Minister. The new statement of strategy will reflect my priorities as Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism in the context of delivering Government policy as articulated in An Agreed Programme for Government.
