43 Mr. Crawford asked the Taoiseach the number of tonnes of meat which have been exported to Egypt to date in 2002 and for each of the past five years; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [13957/02]

*This data primarily relate to January 2001 which were late recordings of consignments despatched in December 2000. The CSO has reason to believe that these consignments were later re-imported into Ireland as a result of the embargo on all beef imports from EU countries into Egypt. This view is supported by the 2001 import data as set out in the following supplementary table.
