Vol. 554 No. 4

Tributes to Superintendent of the Houses of the Oireachtas.

On my own behalf and on behalf of the Government, I pay tribute to Superintendent Éamon O'Donohoe who retires today after 22 years service in the House. He was always tough but courteous in his dealings with Members and he showed enormous dedication in service to them over those years. I hope he will get an opportunity to enjoy many years in retirement.

On behalf of the Fine Gael Party and other individuals, I would like to be associated with the Tánaiste's remarks and pay tribute to the Superintendent's tremendous achievement of longevity of service and to his willingness at all times to co-operate with Members. I wish him well in his retirement.

On behalf of the Labour Party, I would like to be associated with the Tánaiste's remarks. I would like to compliment Superintendent O'Donohoe on his phenomenally long length of service. I have always found him courteous. He has been focused on his job and held strong views as to how it should be carried out. He has done a good job over the period I have been here.

On behalf of the Green Party, I add our tribute to that of the Tánaiste. I am only a recent arrival here but have learned quickly how things run and how much of it centres on the work of the Superintendent. He has a key role and carries it out effectively. I wish him the best in his retirement.

On behalf of Sinn Féin, I would like to be associated with the Tánaiste's remarks and those of everybody in the Chamber.

On behalf of the Independent Group, I congratulate Superintendent O'Donohoe on his long years in the public service. Many people take for granted the people who work around the Dáil and in the different public services. I congratulate him and wish him and his family well for the future.
