Vol. 555 No. 1

Written Answers. - Environmental Policy.

Bernard Allen

Question:

287 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government when fuel economy labelling will be introduced for all new cars as promised in the National Climate Change Strategy. [17675/02]

Since August 2001, the European Communities (Consumer Information on Fuel Economy and CO2 Emissions of New Passenger Cars) Regulations, 2001 require all new passenger cars for sale to be individually labelled with fuel economy and CO2 emissions information. In this regard, I refer to the Progress Report on Implementation of the National Climate Change Strategy, published in May 2002 and available in the Oireachtas Library.
