Question:

389 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs the committees, boards, companies or other bodies under the auspices of his Department which were established since 1997 to date pursuant to statutory instrument; the particulars of the statutory instrument in each case; if there are proposals to have the body in question given a basis in statute as opposed to statutory instrument; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17882/02]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 388 and 389 together.

My Department was established in June. Therefore, I refer the Deputy to the answer received by Deputy Quinn to Questions Nos. 247 to 249, inclusive, on 27 February. A number of the non-statutory bodies referred to in that reply have since completed their work.

The following committees, boards, companies or other bodies were established since 1997 otherwise than pursuant to statute or statutory instru ment: Coiste Comhairleach an Aire i dtaobh Tuarascáil Chomisiún na Gaeltachta; Community Development Support Programme Advisory Committee; Community Development Technical Group; Interdepartmental Committee for the Islands, the Gaeltacht and the Irish Language; National Advisory Committee on Drugs; National Committee on Volunteering; National Drugs Strategy Team; Rural Development Forum; White Paper on a Framework for Supporting Voluntary Activity and for Developing the Relationship between the State and the Community and Voluntary Sector Implementation and Advisory Group; and a Working Group on Employment Creation in the Gaeltacht. There are no proposals to give these bodies a statutory basis at present.
No committees, boards, companies or other bodies have been established under the auspices of my Department since 1997 pursuant to statutory instrument.
