Vol. 555 No. 1

Written Answers. - Flood Relief.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

76 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Finance the full extent of the moneys provided to address the flooding issues at Maynooth, Straffan, Johnstown and Leixlip; the extent of the moneys already spent; the estimated costs of the remaining works; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17864/02]

Reports have been received from Kildare County Council on the Lyreen, Meadowbrook and Morrell rivers. Following discussions with the county council an interim programme of works was agreed for these rivers at an estimated cost of €1,130,500. Works are currently in progress and should be completed next year subject to environmental considerations. Discussions with the local authority are ongoing in relation to a programme of further works and studies on these rivers. No reports have been received from the county council in relation to flooding at Leixlip.
