Vol. 555 No. 1

Written Answers. - Nursing Home Subventions.

Jerry Cowley

Question:

101 Dr. Cowley asked the Minister for Health and Children the amount of money which was paid out by his Department, through the health boards in 1999, 2000 and 2001, under the nursing home subvention scheme; the breakdown of expenditure under each of the three categories of subvention, medium, high and maximum; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17809/02]

The amount of additional funding which was allocated to the health boards from my Department in 1999, 2000 and 2001 for the nursing home subvention scheme is set out in the following table:

Health Boards

€ (m)

£ (m)

2001

66.026

52.000

2000

48.860

38.479

1999

42.130

33.179

The information regarding the breakdown of expenditure under each of the three categories of subvention is compiled by the individual health boards/authority. My Department has therefore asked the chief executive officers of the health boards and the regional chief executive of the Eastern Regional Health Authority to collate this information and to reply to him directly.
